Breakout from legacy systems

Inefficient Information Systems? Antiquated IT Infrastructure? TA has effective solutions for you. "Our information systems and communication networks are out of date and inefficient. Our IT organization is working on technologies from the previous millennium, and are not a forward looking group." These are statements coming from CFOs and executive vice-presidents of large companies. So if you felt the same, you can at least take relief in the fact that you are not alone.

What TA can do for you (based on actual client experience)

Two of our customers were stuck with legacy systems that held data in legacy databases and made reporting quite inflexible and inefficient. Data reported was ambiguous and open to interpretation. "It was just too difficult to make recommendations based on one version of the truth" according to one CFO.

Our Solution

Legacy System View Image To put it in simple steps:
  • A Proxy-database which is relational is set up
  • We program a periodic synchronization routine that will synchronize your legacy database with the proxy-database
  • The proxy database now provides a better platform to generate reports onto a browser based dashboard. This is vastly superior to your legacy reporting system and even reporting tools like crystal reports that ride on your legacy system
  • Browser based dashboard can be designed for the flexibility you desire and can have an export to excel feature that further helps you pivot various views on the data depending on your decision support needs.
Report designers usually are limited by the functionality of the tool. With Crystal Reports Thomas and Alex can help you answer questions going beyond the software limitation by using powerful SQL queries to interact with the databases directly. The connectivity options in Crystal Reports like ODBC, OLE and JDBC can help you read data from databases, xml files, log files and other applications. The results and the future potential can be summarized in the words of the president of one of these companies after he viewed a demonstration - "The potential is truly exciting. It was worth every second going early into office to observe this"
